Photo Hunt ~Fix~

When I went away to college I started my own collection of recipes in a composition notebook. This is a compilation of family recipes and those I got from friends, and those I found or created on my own. Many years ago my daughter declared that this family cookbook was part of her inheritence. Rather than wait, last Christmas I gave this 40+ year collection of recipes to my daughter as one of her gifts. However, I took pictures of my favorite recipes for reference. Here is how I FIX my favorite chili

Photo Hunt ~ Aging ~

In order for cheese to reach its optimal flavor it has to be

aged. In France this is done in cheese caves. Our locally

owned and premier supermarket has built their own

12,000 sq. ft.cheese caves to age the cheese they sell in

their cheese shops in their supermarkets and they also

support artisan cheese makers  throughout the region.

Here is some of their marvelous cheeses aging to perfection.

Photo Hunt ~ Nest ~

Last summer my husband kept wondering why there were always wasps in our garage and wasps coming into the house. He hunted and hunted and found a wasp's nest on the back outside wall of the garage.  Finally he had an answer. He began to develop his strategy to destroy the nest. Then while in the garage a few days later  laying his plans of destruction he looked up in the corner  while pondering and saw....
Yes, that's right the other half of the nest inside our garage. They had built their nest right through the wall on both sides.

Photo Hunt ~ Custom~

My daughter's wedding cake was done in a CUSTOM color. She is an artist and she actually took the color code to the baker so she could make the exact color my daughter wanted. Her theme was sunshine and sea.

Photo Hunt ~ Wheel ~

Of course objects like steering wheels and wagon wheels come to mind but what jumped out at me was when we visited our daughter and son in law in Pennsylvania and they took us to a farmers market. There was one stall that had these wheels...

Photo Hunt ~Cherished~

There are so many cherished memories in my life that it was hard to select just one picture to symbolize this word. I finally picked the wedding sampler I made for my husband when we celebrated our 25th Anniversary.  I cherish our marriage, our life together, the family I inherited and the family we have built.

Photo Hunt ~ Superfluous ~

What does superfluous mean? Exceeding what is sufficient; not needed or unnecessary. An interesting concept to try and represent with a picture But I think this captures it for most people.
In my mind snow and cold weather are superfluous!!!!

Photo Hunt 2015 ~ Present~

Our first word this year has multiple meanings.
On January 2, 2015 our cat, NALA, passed peacefully from this life to the next. The many memories I have of her 18 + years as a member of our family are very present in my mind today. If you take the meaning of present to mean a gift she was was that too. Our younger son selected her at the animal shelter for his 7th birthday. Although she was getting weaker over the last couple of months  she rallied for one more Christmas with the family. Also, when we brought her home I told her she couldn't leave us until our younger son finished school. She took her responsibility seriously. Our son completed his BS degree in December. NALA was a great gift to our family and will be ever present in our memories.
